- Billy Idol – first nomination
- Joy Division/New Order – second nomination
- Cyndi Lauper – second nomination
- Maná – first nomination (first ever Spanish-language rock band to be nominated)
- Oasis – second nomination
- OutKast – first nomination
- Phish – first nomination
- Soundgarden – third nomination
- The White Stripes – second nomination
Yes you read that right. Somehow Soundgarden, Oasis, and BILLY IDOL are not already in the hall. Hopefully this year that wrong is corrected.
