You know how we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time? Well, a lot of folks wonder why we bother with Leap Year, but there’s actually some good reasons for it. See, the Earth’s orbit isn’t neatly divided into 365 days, it’s more like 365.2422 days, give or take a bit. So, if we didn’t have Leap Day every four years, things would get outta whack. Imagine your birthday being on February 29th – it’d be a mess! And not just that, but after about 40 years, our seasons would be all messed up, like having summer in December up in the Northern Hemisphere. Crazy, right? It’d throw off all our seasonal traditions and celebrations, but eventually, after 700 years, everything would kinda sort itself out again.
